HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee escalated his sincere congratulations to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Charity and Youth Affairs and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports on Bahrain’s victory in the final match of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship versus Iraq.
Bahrain’s national football team secured a well-earned 1-0 against the Iraqis on Wednesday at Karbala International Stadium in the final game to deservedly win the title of the championship.
Commenting on this win, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said: “We are proud of this victory in such a prestigious football gathering. Our Bahraini champions have proved once again their worth and their great value.”
HH further added: “This is a great result for our national team in this continental participation. It’s the beginning of a new chapter of further achievements in the Golden Era of Bahrain’s sports, which was announced by my brother HH Shaikh Nasser as an extension of the Year of Gold in 2018.”
Moreover, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the efforts of Bahrain Football Association under the leadership of HE Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa to provide the idealist environment to the national team to participate in this championship, extending his gratitude to the technical and administrative staff for their efforts in preparing the team for this event.
