HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee has instructed Bahrain Council for Traditional Sports, Mind and Electronic Games to organise “Tarh Al Quood” (Tame the Camel) contest which aims to revive the traditional sports and spread them among Bahraini youth.
“This sport is considered one of the sports linked to GCC traditions. Organising the event comes to translate the vision of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain for supporting and backing traditional sports and encourage the Bahraini youth to participate in them. Moreover, it’s part of our efforts to support camel owners,” HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad said.
“This sport forms an integral part of our rich traditions that are linked to the camel. The purpose of this sport was in the past to tame the camel and make it sit down. This is a real step to contribute to educating others about our traditional sports,” he added.
